Coney Island Ballpark. As the mayor’s architectural representative on a citywide task force for baseball stadium development, Patricia J. Knobloch was involved in the planning, design, and construction of a 7,500-seat minor league stadium for the New York Mets. The stadium’s architecture reflected its beach location and the whimsical construction that once dominated the Coney Island boardwalk area. In its premiere season, the stadium was named Best New Minor League Stadium by Baseballparks.com and received the Beam Clay Baseball Diamond of the Year Award.
